BBC Radio2 has begun the new year by offering it’s listeners a couple of mini series based on important movements in the history of black music. On Monday 02.01.2011 at 10pm they aired ’Feeling Good: The Nina Simone Story’, the first of a two part biographical account by her daughter. The second part is scheduled to be aired on 11.01.2011.
’The Story of Funk Funk Used to Be a Bad Word’ is a three part look at the most important figures of Funk music from the pioneers who through down the blueprints to those currently moving it forward. This show is presented by iconic blaxsploitation actress Pam Grier. Aired just yesterday (05.01.2011), the next installment is available on 12.01.2011.
