HOLDIN’ COURT: THE NATURAL CURRICULUM LIVE IN LONDON
Friday 23rd, Free entry at Hysteria, Dalston.
Every once in a while, something special happens. A new direction is formed by person(s) thinking outside the box. Their approach, their sound, their ethos.
The Natural Curriculum are Aver, Billy Sykes, Dan Chalk, Paul Omas and beatboxer Jam.
Unique, distinctive and consistent are all words which can be used to describe the quality of their work to date. Still their back catalogue remains slept on - We’re hoping to help change that.
The crews most recent release was One For Being Me, rapper Dan Chalk’s solo album. It’s brilliantly honest and open. The production, pace and arrangement is excellent. Recently receiving heavy rotation on BBC 6music (thanks to Lauren Laverne), you won’t have heard anything quite like this in UK Hip-Hop. Go find it for yourself if you haven’t already. We think It’s sublime, we’re sure you’ll agree.
Joining members of TNC is someone else who has continued to deliver his own unique blend of distinctive, consistent production. Producer Sam Zircon has, in the past, collaborated with Cappo, Mnsr Frites (Granville Sessions), Stinkin’ Slumrok and most recently Parallax, who will be joining him on the night. His head nodding beats demonstrate an ability to create new classics (if he hasn’t already). Expect big things from this guy, he’s most certainly one to watch!
Parallax is a rapper/producer & engineer located in London. His focus is on bringing golden era Hip-Hop back through both raw beats and lyrical content. As testament, his recent track Hip-Hop Philosophy does just that!
